update (one for rich h)

paint was looking a little sorry for itself so soon got it down to friend of mines work to give it a go over..

i spent 10 hours doing the following..

good wash with AG shampoo and lambs wool mitt
wiped down with a drying cloth
once over with g6 on cutting pad
once over with g10 on polishing pad
polished it with AG super resin polish by hand
waxed it (mer wax) by hand

took about 80% of the swirl marks and general marks on the paint which im happy about, could of cut into the paint some more but didnt want to remove to much paint..

the outcome.. (correcting the paint)

bad swirl marks..

scratches down the door.. (before)

after:

some reflection shots:

was to dark to get outside pics that night but took some earlier..

cant forget a pic of the 'beading'

cheers shaun..

it wasnt to bad on this tbh as being a vw the paint is quite thick so you can be a little tougher with it, but every vehicle is different obvioulsy..

just have to take your time and be careful only way to learn is try it

Hard to tell from the pics, although you have quite clearly knocked out a lot of the swirls and restored a good level of gloss. You won't get it 100% on a car of that age anyway so don't beat yourself up at not getting full correction. It's also near on impossible to with a DA on german paint.

Only thing I noticed was in this pic:

You can see a lot of smearing or buffer trails around the area that has the light reflection - so either needs refining further with finishing pads and polish or a good wipe down to remove the smearing
