Am getting a new car next month.
Am 18 with 2 - 2.5k to spend.
The engine cant be bigger then a 1.6.
I thought about a VTR.
Cant have a VTS because my dad said they have all been raced to fuck and been in smashes. (That was the outcome when my brother went looking for one last year)
Anyone recomend a good car?

a VTR will probably be ragged more than a VTS as they're slower.
at 18, your insurance will be high, so try and get some quotes. it's a bit difficult to advise unless you know how much you can spend on it.
VTR
VTS
Fiesta Zetec-S (i miss my old imperial blue mk5)
Corsa Sport 1.4 or 1.6

How will a VTS be ragged more than a VTR? If anything, a VTS will be looked after better than a VTR because young lads cant insure them

Top of your budget = £2.5k
Insurance at 18 (providing you do it properly) = £1k minimum - skys the limit
Thus your ACTUAL budget is £1 - £1.5k

You won't get insured for a VTS anyway, unless its £2K or something stupid.

1.2 SXi Corsa C.
Fast enough, refined enough. Build up your no claims then get something half decent.

Xsara VTR/VTS. Wont have been ragged, as they would have been owned by (slightly) more sensible people.

Just go for the VTR. It's not as quick as the VTS but your insurance will be a killer on the S. Get a raceland 4-2-1 and a decat system with a decent induction kit and it'll be pretty nippy with brilliant handling!

If i did get the VTR i would be getting the Mid-Range manifold and straight through exhuast system with a 2.5" tip
Theres a place in Doncaster called Top Gear what makes them.
