Hi, don't know wether it's the best thing to do in terms of safety but, Can i take the reinforcement bars off from behind the bumpers? as they weigh a fair bit.

Btw i'm stripping my corsa so any tips of what i can get rid of & pics etc, would be appreciated.

James could probably give you the weight of every corsa part to the nearest gram. I hear that's why his car is taking so long.

They weight about 2 grams

Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but I'd leave the front one on no matter what.

throw them away. be right. its not as if a corsa is a massively save car to crash in anyway so wont matter much.

They are not massively heavy and equally they are not a thick gauge steel or massively re-inforced.

They may help with a low speed 'bump' but even then the impact would be spread onto the 2 (IIRC) mounting points.

Bin them.

But it will protect the engine in low speed collisions. Think of the ball ache of breaking your radiator miles away from home.

Heavy gauge doesn't mean strong. It effectively works like a piece of rope catching whatever you've driven into.

its a corsa. A bent crash car could write it off.

ditch them, useless above 10mph,

mine pretty much bent in half at 5mph
and did more damage it's self, than the knock.

I wouldnt take them off. If you do even the smallest of knocks is going to bend stuff.

Early Corsas get written off at the slightest bit of damage now though, i would prob leave the front on and take the back off if i was doing it

honestly children. Dont kid yourself. Corsa is made from thin metal. Will bend stuff any way. Its not going to save you in a crash. You are fucked no matter what. A 16 year old chassis design is not like the modern n cap stuff.
