Hi gang...
Right what i want to know is the insurance on say a UK Subaru Turbo rally as bad as say a WRX or an STI??
You know the one i mean don't you?
I know that grown men with full no claims pay a fair bit for the WRX's an all that but are the lower spec ones just as bad
Opinons pleaze

I'm in pretty much the same insurance situation as you and your dad Nik mate.
Is it some sort of company jobbie or what like?? You pay just over a grand for the GTI i think you said?
I'm 22 me dads 52 Full protected no claims blah blah....(we pay £476 for the Astra Group 5!)
What do you rekon about £2K? Might ring up for the fun of it but just want a rough idea first like.

Bear in mind though that the service costs are astranomical and they guzzle fuel and tyres like you wouldn't believe! If you can afford it though go for it!
Not a lot of chance on an import though, go for a UK spec turbo.

Tis a nice dream indeed! Gotta be realistic though. Is it worth the huge amounts of your hard earned dosh for a weekend car? What not sell the astra aswell then at least you would have more cash for the scoob and you would get your moneys worth out if the insurance premium!
I have no idea how the guy at the bottom of that link got insured on a scoob turbo at 21 for 950FC! Must have just got lucky!

That's what i would do phil.Trade in the Astra for it.I get driven to and from work everyday anyway so it wouldn't be a second car
Elephant said i would have to phone up as i'm under 25 and the car would be registered to me and nooot my dad.Bummer.

Thats good then. Phone Tesco, they will give you a reasonable quote. They quoted me 2.5k on a Scoob Turbo at 18. I really wanted one, but then spent all my cash on goin out and basically just wasted it. Still, you're only young once, I'll worry bout saving for a car when I'm older!

Servicing = 400 (minimum)
Tyres/Brakes/etc 500 (probably a fair amount at 10K miles a year)
Insurnace 2k
Fuel (10K miles @ 360p a gallon and 22mpg) 1640
Tax 160
Running costs taken from Scoobynet, just shy of 5k, nice!
