If I thought I'd get the use out of it, I'd get one, would be ace for the World Cup.

Pubs would probably get the usage it deserves, like Brett said I wouldn't like to watch anything in specs on the sofa, just the World Cup or maybe football, I'm not big into films or anythin in 3D.

The 3D blu-ray release of Avatar will nicely coincide with these being in houses, that was lucky wasn't it.

Agreed, until they do it without glasses I don't think it will catch on.

There are other 3D movies but not anywhere close to the effect Avatar had.

They can do it without glassed, you basically need to sit directly infront though (or some at certain other specific positions) or it doesn't work.

Yup, majority of 3D films now use a polorised image. And 3D TVs without glasses are about and work by having verticle lines (varies in width although usually a few pixels wide) that are angled towards each eye - so one eye receives one image, the other eye receives another. As said though, you have to be pretty much smack bang on centre for it to work (similar to the display used in Range Rovers to display two seperate images).
Thing is there isn't many other options though, so it's either glasses (beit active or passive) or without glasses but limits you to a few people in front of the telly.
Hologram displays is another way of doing 3D, but we're still some time away before they become commercial.

Its the same as anything new.

Its all about economies of scale and mass production.
The first year, the rich people will buy (the big sizes anyway), and the second year everyone else will follow.

Are you sure, I think you'll find the majority of 3D films now (Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, the Dance one etc) are all non polarized films, i.e Dolby3D and not RealD.

I might be wrong though....

was released in all three formats (RealD, Dolby 3D and Imax) from what i remember, it was RealD at MK (i assume most cinemas go for RealD as it's the cheaper form of 3D).

I like the idea but like others dont fancy sitting in my living room or down the pub wearing glasses.

Not a problem for me anymore but what do you do if you already wear glasses? Can you put the 3D ones over the top
