WHAT! I LOVE TAP WATER!
But isn't that the same for anywhere you go outside the UK?

tap water = instant aids.
The good news is, there's a 7eleven on every street corner which will sell you a nice clean bottle of water for 10 pence.

Never been to a 7eleven. Should be fun. Booking the flights as soon as to save from being disappointed later with a massive rocket in prices.
Is a travel guide any good or should I just use the nets for info?

yeh lonley planet guide is quite good, but to be honest in asia - just word of mouth and wandering around will do.
There is a 7eleven on every corner, or right next to each other in asia .... along with a lot of mcdonalds, starbucks, kfcs, etc... to be honest after a while you feel like you're at home.

Fine... Toursim has come through these places for so long now, most of their economies rely on it. Hence they all learnt english as it makes it easier for them to sell.
alternatively, just point and talk louder.
Worth learning hello and thanks though.
