Well my current centre console in the Astra needs painting, never really liked it in grey and its tatty in a few area's so would like to get it repainted and in a different colour.
Rattle cans are a no go as Ive seen some DIY jobs and they just don't give the finish I want.
I have always liked the Piano black finish of the centre consoles in the Astra/Corsa VXR's and just wondered if a bodyshop would be able to achieve this same finish?

if you do the prep work rite you will be able to achieve the finish you want, if not a body shop should yes

oh man i tried this with my centre console on the corsa, its so hard to get it all SMOOTH, i had little bits of raised plastic all over so i gave up and jumped on it, lol the OEM is back in.
filler primer is a must i think thats where i failed tbh. few coats of that shud be ok
and im just wondering isnt it covered in some sort ofthin rubber on the gsi? my mates sister has one like yours and hers is damaged around the headunit gap, and i kinda picked some off to see what it was lol

is yours not smooth already as its already coloured? if it is it shouldnt be hard, if not get some halfords plastic filler primer. either way just take your time on the prep work and should turn out ok

Yea it is covered in some sort of rubber texture i think, where its chipped off around the headunit, you can rub it and it comes off.
It is smooth scott, may give it a go on one of my weeks off, Im going with grey now and going for a gloss finish so will give it some decent prep and time and it should hopefully turn out well, if all goes to cock I will probably just paint it in a normal primer finish again as its mainly the chipped bits that annoy me the most.
Shall see how it turns out
