My problem is that if and when I buy a new computer it will be downgraded from 7 to XP. I don't understand why they can't leave the o/s on that I've paid for in the price of the PC.
We use Dell hardware mainly but will go for hp if the customer is a tight badger. There generally come with Windows 7 installed with an XP downgrade CD.
Mine will be a Stone machine. Our department doesn't use Dell anymore because they're too expensive.

I still run XP on all new PC's in work as some of our old software won't run on 7. Recently started rewriting some of the legacy stuff (written back when NT 4 was all the rage ! )
Not always as simple as keeping it cos IT geeks love it
Run 7 on my laptop though.

The software I use is written to run on Windows 7. In fact, Solidworks doesn't really work that well on XP anymore. I don't think it's even supported.
