And the only pullies you can use are dbilas ones as they have the lug for the cam sensor.

Its not the high power.
Google how camshafts work, and u'll see that the timing is altered, and to get the best timing you need to be able to adjust the pullies, hence why they are needed.
Higher lift cams need more than that too. Depending on cam duration, high lift cams will need pocketted pistons, then you may as well do rod bolts, some head work etc.
No point putting mild spec cams on a 1.4 16v engine without using other modifications. Far better to source a 1.6 16v engine for the same price and put that in, and have more power, AND more torque.

as vxr has hit it on the head almost I will add you would see a gain just from verniers with standard cams, it wouldn't be much mind.

Still far better to do it to the 1.6 im afraid. Whilst the 1.4 16v is a good engine, on the road (and track), the 1.6 will always be far superiour.
Really you want 264 cams to match the high revving powerband nature of a powerbox. Whilst 256 cams will increase top end a little, your only looking at a few hp, and loss of power bottom end of the rev range.

Yeah It would make more scene to modify the c/x16. I have seen a custom 288 cam dialed in with standard pistons but its very risky Plus thats getting into more advanced tuning I would agree with vxr a 264 kent or newman cam

Well there is nothing stopping you put them on the 1.4 then if you want you can allways put a 1.6 in later on and everything will swap over. The only thing is that labour will be pricey on fitting cams as its a belt off job.

not at all m8, It's just the 1600 is faster from standard. You can still get good gains from your 1400 it just depends on how much money you spend on it, i'd say keep the 1400 like me for now as the insurance is cheaper.
