Speccing up a new box, thoughts plz:
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Intel X58
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem)
Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel
EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1024MB
Corsair HX 650W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650HXUK)
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
The 920's can apparently be overclocked to 3/4Ghz on air which is what is getting reported on forums, will the PSU be enough? i havent specced a machine for years and last time I did 1000W was coming out and it seemed all abit overkill, is it still overkill?

Unless you've got a massive power sapping graphics card 650w will be more than enough, everything is going down in power consumption these days.

The 920's are being discontinued now. The 930's have just come out - are about £20 more expensive but can do 4.3ghz on air with a decent motherboard

Yeah defo, you would be daft to buy a 920 now as like I said - the 930 is basically the direct replacement.
I would also hold on until the 26th of March as that's the release date of the new NVIDIA GTX 470 and 480 cards. Fingers crossed as long as there are no stock issues - a price war should kick off.
I would also get a Corsair H-50 with the CPU to be on the safe side if your going to push it
When the 930 is fully overclocked - it beats a stock I7-975 which is still about £800
