Apparently this is not actually needed? Can anyone confirm this and tell me why please?

I managed to get some engine cleaner on mine and its lost its colour and looks gash, im either going to replace it or buy another. If its not needed im not going to bother and just remove it i suppose

no its not needed, just remove it and blank the little hole in the manifold
