If you can afford the 45's get them, the R1's are cheaper and thats it.

i had 48's on my nova xe. it was great. smelled of petrol, sounded like a loud bark and was generally shocking on fuel consumption. it made 181bhp with a large bore exhaust manifold and a ported head. it was fairly bloody fast back in 2001.

my corsa with R1 carbs on the xe ran 181bhp and did a 14.1 quater mile.

just had carbs and manifold back exhaust.

Was really fast and pulled like a train but drank so much fuel.

I think I will. Blowing away my mate's precat 205 1.9 GTi today made me fall in love with it all over again.

Finished mates westy thurs, with wossners, rods, cometic, and ive just done the head and 270 newman cams, made 190 at wheels and 225 at fly, that had r1 carbs and tony law manifold, to be fair pul choke out and start, chokes back in afta few seconds, and alot easier to set up imo. Give better midrange too than 45 webers
