I have a simple website which im looking for some constructive comments.

http://www.emeraldsystems.co.uk/new/index.html
http://www.emeraldsystems.co.uk/new/index2.html

I think I prefer the 2nd page, but overall, what are the impressions? It needs to remain, clean and professional looking, im just not sure if its too boring?

Thoughts/Opinions?

p.s Im aware a few boxes need extending on the contact page.

I like it. Nice and clean
index2 is better.

I'd bring the text down in the bottom-right box a bit.

The menu bar isn't quite right, imo, but not sure what you could do to it.

I like both, but second looks cleaner.

A small problem I noticed is that on IE7 the padding is screwed up on the lower left box. The content is aligned to the centre, but the padding settings are giving a wider right margin than left.

Looks nice and clean, the only thing I'd probably do differently would be the navigation bar, not too sure what i'd do....? Definately a smaller font to start with though.

Thats the only thing i'd have to say, looks professional and clean

One thing that I'd do on it is to either give your content a 100% min-height or make the shadow continue around the bottom as it stops abruptly (on my screen at least).

I quite like the homepage now, but im not sure about the thick green strip under the products/contact pages, does it look old fashioned/boring, or is it just me?

Loose the text shadow and add some 'fades' over the top to make it look a bit glassy?

I think the page is too short to warrant the links at the top and the bottom, and if you insist then id change contact us to contact or vice versa just to add fluidity. Also agree with Whittie, try a smaller type. Generally though it looks very good!

When I load the page on Safari it needs minimizing to fit in the window and it isn't centred.

the home page may be short... but it doesn't mean the other pages will be.

Look at the products or shop pages and the pages are very long. Having a link at the bottom isn't a bad thing.

I dont quite understand what emerald systems sell/do. I think the design looks good but too much waffle, I think straight to the point sites are always better.

Shop is/will be an actual shop, the links will take you to the shop, i.e www.emeraldsystems.co.uk/shop (its not linked to yet).

I agree with the text content, its a straight rip from the old, which will be re-written.

The animated header details the core products the company supplies.

yeah I guess that, but surely people "shop" for "products" so why is there two types of links/pages?

edit - so products are the type of products they use and the shop is the solutions they offer which include the products??

^ yes... if that makes sense?

Ive just made a slightly shiney nav bar, but its a tad too dark.
I will lighten it up later I think.

p.s appreciate the comments

The flash thing turns red when you click it, I think you would be better using grey or maybe green to keep with the colour scheme
