Bit of an impulse purchase but wanted to get my GF a new car and she didnt like the 3 series as was to big; so mini cooper s was the next best thing Its a fairly high spec 55 plate with 26K on.
On friday found a damaged one on the net so rang up and was delivered from East Anglia the following day!!
This is how it looked
Then when i got it back to my parents (this way my BMW can stay in my garage )
Interior is rather swish..
Stripped the rear end bits off and not as bad as it looks
Then on the hunt for parts.... so bought
Aero front and rear bumpers
Aero Grill
New tailgate
and bought a rear Bumper Carrier.
Should be ordering the rest today, bonnet, rear lights, radiator, fog light and bonnet release.

How much do you reckon its going to cost to put right?
What are the plans for the rear quarters?

I reckon around the £1,500 area to get it running again; but no doubt will find other probs as i remove more. The wing will be panel beaten; but car needs to be jigged first.

I presume you got it cheap enough
Doesn't look too bad, rear quarter damage is the scary part!

No has to be jigged first as slight crease in the rear leg; which is being done next week then will have that sprayed and its bk on the road

looking good, would it not have been better to get it jigged first and all painted at same time?

Ideally yes; but its going somewhere else to be jigged to where its being painted. The place where its being jigged couldnt do it straight away and the place who sprayed it had space. Its costing the same doing it this way round just means its bk and forth a bit more but will be bk on the road earlier.

Yeah thats why i would rather get it done myself to know that its all done properly!
Small update; got some of the trim back on; not really much i can do to it now. Changed the gearbox mount also which has given way in the impact. Just waiting on some clips from BMW then back off for the work on Friday.

After all this, is the saving worth the hassle of the work involved?

who said it has been hassle?
its all about what you get out of it at the end of the day, if you save some £££ along the way then its a bonus

Deffo when a non category one is worth north of 10-11k
These sell quickly even as Cat D's hence why people snap them up. Plus the spec on it is pretty good too.

It hasnt really been a hassle; quite enjoy it really as no rush or presure to get it done. Plus when done the car wont have a single mark and added a few things to the spec which i wanted such as the aero kit. Also the added bonus that it should be on the road for £6.5K!!
Sidesport - A local bloke in the Radstock area is doing it; has come highly recomended and not charging the earth. But thanks for the offer
