I didn't think I was doing it that heavy but obviously I am I'm thinking I might be getting too close when I paint the windows, as I tend to be a bit further away when doing the body and that's a lot less orangey.

Today's update:

Light was fading fast today so I wet sanded the windows a bit and managed to get it back to primer in places This meant I put on another 2 coats of colour . It's looking less orange peely now though.

Also I have painted the top of the body so that is now ready. 4 coats I think it was. I put some masking tape down on the wood blocks which will hopefully stop it from sticking as badly as it keeps pulling paint off. I really need to find a better thing to put it on when doing the Corsa model!

Anyway, here are the pics.

Since then I sanded it with the 1200 grit and cleaned it with white spirit, it's fine other than the wet paint glues it to the blocks so when I pick it up it pulls some off

That is something that I had thought about tbh Didn't look hard enough to find something of that description though

Today's update:

The cans of paint say to spray from 25cm or 10" away, so I marked it out along the side of the box so that I can try and not lay it on quite so thick

A couple of pics of the body in nice dry paint:

And these all lacquered up:

Will be putting it back together tomorrow

All back together now

The windows have come out a little bit gritty, I think it's either the Halfords lacquer or how I'm spraying. I wouldn't be surprised if I was too far away as the body isn't gritty at all but is a bit orange peely.

Made a mark in the paint with a nail whilst trying to fit the widows (which was harder than it sounds!)

Overall, not bad imo for 99p from eBay and a bit of practice Have learned a bit too which will hopefully carry over onto future models.

are you spraying in lots of little bursts/presses?

the paint can dry too quickly before it hits the surface and turn out lumpy/gritty, if you get enough paint on wet it should end up flowing into a smooth finish
