if a car is badly damaged then they can be reshelled, but its usually on high end cars as they would just be written off.
can be done though

Totally normal for older cars, Can buy New MG bodyshells and then use a reg from the donor car (Providing there is sufficient parts from the donor car)
Few nova people do it too, but with used shells etc.
