Are they all shit? or is it just ford?

when i was there yesterday, saw a year old Focus outside that had somework done on the rear bumper still wet, was just sat there outside with bits of paper hanging off it to shield the overspray in the wind for all the dust to stick to it

honestly looked like some kind of job woodwardsbodyshop would be proud off

there are a lot of non dealership bodyshops that are shit. just depends on the skill of the people working there which is pretty obvious really.

you are going to wear out that new topic button if you are not careful.

yes i just assumed the dealership would want to maintain quite a high level of quality in that area especially as they will be having to honour corrosion warrantys and what not for several years, obviously im wrong lol

I have seen some horrendous repairs to 'new cars', but as Nic states - its not just main dealer bodyshops that are shit, loads of independants are too.
I saw a car being sprayed outside once in a local trading estate once.

I won't tell you how dodgy the garage I did some valeting work for a couple years back was. Their paintwork was fucking awful. How they stay in business I'll never know.

Cos they are a dealer, the general public assume they will be good, and go to them to buy a new/almost new car from them because its usually local and easy for them to do so

This place weren't a dealership, just a family run garage.

I had my boot painted at a tiny place, can't be more than 5 or 6 guys working there at the most, but they did a top job.

Before I had it it was done by the dealership the guy who owned it worked at, absolutely terrible job.

Can't make sweeping statements.

I've had some paint done at a vauxhall bodyshop and it was excellent.

My local Vauxhall dealer repaired my last Freelander and the job was absolutely terrible. Areas of it with thin paint, areas with blotchy paint, trim been bent so the plastic had gone white, door handle prized off with a screwdriver so it was full of marks. Absolute dogs dinner.

That was after two attempts as well.
