An enhancement detail on this Honda Accord with 116k on the clock. Wasn't as straight forward as an Accord should be though due the WHOLE car having a blowover before the current owner obtained it. On top of that was filler work on the drivers side (1100 micron readings in places) as well an numerous wet sanding marks. Paint readings were an absolute nightmare, lowest I found was 189, highest 1100, average 230ish.Upon arrival today there was also a bird etching mark on the boot to tackle.
Process; fairly standard for me:
Pre rinse: ValetPro Snowfoam Combo
Wheels: Autosmart G101, later sealed with 2 x coats of Jetseal 109
Tyres & Arches: Autosmart G101, Tyres later dressed with ValetPro Pro Tyre Dressing, Arches with Autosmart Rubber & Plastic Dressing.
Wash: Two Bucket Method, Grit Guards, Refined Detail Lambswool Mitt, Autosmart Duet
Dry: Refined Detail Waffle Weave drying towel
De-Tar: Autosmart Tardis
Clay: Bilt Hamber Soft with weak Autosmart Reglaze as lube
Enhancement: Dodo Juice Lime Prime via rotary and 3M yellow pad
Glaze: Poorboys Black Hole
Wax: 2 x coats of Autosmart Wax
Glass: Nielsens Blue Window
Trim: Autosmart Trim Wizard
Door shuts: Autosmart Tango
Interior was also given a quick hoover and wipe down with Autosmart Multifresh.
I originally tried 3M Extra fine, Meguiars 80, then 83 before settling on Lime Prime as nothing behaved in the usual manner, the paint was an odd ball, and a lot of the defects were beneath the blowover which appeared to just be lightly coloured lacquer. Bird etching was removed with 3M FastCut + on a 3M Orange cutting pad, refined with 3M Extra fine on a Refined Detail secret pad then machined as per the rest of the car.
Not many shots as it was spitting with rain on and off during the day so had to crack on. Grabbed a few 50/50 shots to give you an idea of correction:
Bird etching before:
And after:
Finito:
Thanks for looking. Comments, questions and constructive criticism welcome as per usual

I was lucky on that one though as paint was mega mega soft due to poor respray on it. Usually requires local area wet sanding and cutting it back up from there.

Just out of interest mate what do you do if theres deep scratches? Im talking down to base coat deep? Ive wanted to get mine done to a standard like that but theres a few deep scratches and i dont fancy all of it being mirror shiny and then just a scratch sticking out.

Nothing I can do with them when they're that deep. I tend to quote these jobs before I do them (if not miles away) so if there is anything like that I tend to suggest they get it sorted before I detail it, or I'll just work around it.

How notciable are deep scratches after youve detailed it? The ones ive got arent that noticable really and can easily be touched up. I just dont want them standing out miles. If i u2u with details could you quote me for a detail? If you could what do you need to know?

Depends on the colour - for example a black car it will show up more as obviously the rest looks mint, so your eyes get drawn to the remaining defect Silver for example is a lot easier.
In all honesty mate, if you're in Sandbach as per your profile, I would prefer to refer you to somebody a bit closer. 7 hour round trip doesn't cut it for me I'm afraid!
Cheers

Ye thats fair enough. To be honest i think i have the easiest colour to work with but the worst for a mirror finish - White. Could you do me a quote minus the travelling just so i know what im looking at roughly for a good job? Im happy with my bucket and sponge method but fancy a good clean for PVS.

Ballpark figure down in my neck of the woods. Enhancement on a Corsa would be £190 - 200ish, Correction work to address scratches etc, nearer £350 - £400.
John - Thanks! Not too long now, couple of weeks! Timed it well - now booked 7 days a week till mid June!

Thanks guys, much appreciated
Gav - It was an nightmare due to the shoddy blowover and respray - paint readings were all over the place, polishes didn't behave as they usually do, and visible defects weren't touchable due to being below the clearcoat etc.
The client was happy with the result though, just gutted at how bad the blowover was
