Would I be able to just use tint spray to spray over the top of the standard light lens to smoke them or wouldnt that be good?

It would look shit mate. Are you talking about headlights or tail lights? Just buy proper lights either way

You can get proper light tinting spray, ive used it in the past (check my garage) it looks ok but does lose its shine quite quickly...
