As above, I'm replacing the locking bolts with boggo standard jobs but the last twat that used them must of used an air gun or something and its all bowed out of shape, it won't go into the collar even with a hammer. Not got tools to drill out so what's next best / cheapest...

What type of locking bolt is it? You might be able to get a replacement key.

I presume there vauxhall, Which iirc you can get replacement keys, Maybe give vaux a ring and see if they can help/how much your wallet will hate it

bit of a shame to pay out for a new tool when hes replacing them for a different set anyway.

Yeah Vaux can do you a new key if you have the code for it. Going by a recent thread on here it costs £25 for a replacement.

What makes it more of a joke is that a new set of bolts + key costs £30

Saves fucking around with them though, and if the bolts are perfectly fine (as mine are, the key is a bit iffy tho).

And knocking a socket on them dont always work.

The Vauxhall bolts are rubbish because the key is stupidly soft and doesn't fit very well so I've managed to wreck my key but the bolts are fine Happened with the set on my old car too so had to buy a new lot.

Going to get some more before changing my wheels back but not getting Vaux for the above reason.

Use a stud remover, irwin ones from machine mart are good, just make sure the first smash with the hammer is a good one so the thread can bite into the locker

I did the same to a set of MacGuard ones. (The 1st time I took them off - on the 1st bolt I might add)
They said that you should only nip them up and the key is designed to be soft so if something goes wrong
its the key that gives first and the bolts are still good. Lets face it you would be more pissed if you
mangled the bolts. at least they got me a new key pretty quickly

As Steve said im not going down the route of buying a new key for them as ive got 4 shiny new bolts to go in their place, they are more hassle than they are worth, especially for standard alloys. I havent got any sockets a) that I dont use anymore and b) they are all Draper ones so are probably softer than the bloody tool that has been knackered anyway...

edit - and stud removers, thought they were for when the head has snapped off? AFAIK the bolt is still intact fine I just obviously cant get the bugger off without this key

nah they are like sockets with a bite pattern in them, iv got a set of irwin ones, they work well

mine is the orther way around mate the bolts have rounded off so iv just replaced them with proper bolts, was a piss take to get out though

Get a dremmel cutter on it in the middle of the bolt deep enough for a flat blade screw driver to fit in then turn the flat blade with some grips.
