Also most couriers use a different company for the last leg, so usually needing to be signed for doesn't mean much

I've used parcel 2go, dhl and many other sites, really depends on how heavy it is, the sites tend to have a up 25kg policy so personally I found Royal mail to be the best.
Sent some small items to France via Royal mail, took 4 days total, was to be signed for and was £4.80 where as the sites your looking at £12.99 for this up to 25kg system.
