duin my arches and front and back bumstrips, took me 2 hours just to get the front bumstrip sanded. will a sander make things a lot easier or are they a waste of time?

Yeh def buy a sander. You can get a mouse sander from homebase for like £25... It's buying the extra sanding pads that's costly, £8 a pop.

Lidl have a orbital and mouse one for £20 each and the pads are £3

you want the paint to feel smooth and flat to touch before spraying....

i hate sanding suckkkkkkkkks! did my mr2 by hand took 3 full days

get a sander if you value your hands lol

Ive just started stripping down my OEM M3 19's. Pretty hard going.....next stage is going to be worse right enough sanding & then polishing.

i sanded all the textured bits out me & ma mate took us hours .. by hand too hans where sore as fck re-doing them propperly this time .. just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit

they probably told you that so they could charge you more, just needs a key up, adhesion promoter and high build, rub down and paint

You'll never get it smooth and even enough either if you try and take off all the texture, especially if you go doing it with an electric sander...

Key it up, use some plastic primer and then use some high build primer on it and rub it down smooth. Just as Tom said...

Sanding off the sheen. The plastic also has a tendency to go furry if you sand it too much, it's a fucking pain in the arse to get it in a paintable state again if you do that too. Trust me

well i sanded the front today, started with p40 then 80 then 400 then 600. and still need to give it a bit more.....shall i use just plastic primer then high build primer? then give it another sand then plastic primer? this takes the piss......lol

Don't bother with primer on plastic just put the paint straight on if it's been keyed.
