has n e one ever experienced n e probs wiv the egr valve??
everytime mine kicks in when i try start the car it makes the engine struggle 2 get 2 idle speed.
also seems 2 kick in a lot, when and why does this valve kick into action??
n e comments or ideas wud help plz.

What is it? Where is it? and how do you take it out? 1.0 12v is kicking up a stink and running rough as a badger's tadg... Friend of friend is Vauxhall mechanic said to take it out and clean it. No manual at present (getting TIS from ebay) but would like to try and clean it ASAP but don't know where to look.

kittedcorsa sounds to me like you mean the EGR motor rather than the EGR valve? It kicks in when u start the enigne from cold for a few mins to warm the quicker so that the engine is emitting lower emissions, or something along those lines!. I have one on my car, think it was all engines including and above 1.4 16v that they were fitted to, but when mine kicks in the engine doesnt struggle to idle. I'm not sure why yours is struggling to idle when this happens, maybe the timing needs adjusting or something? but couldnt really say for sure dont know enough!!

n e one wiv n e other ideas??
might not b the EGR jus seems 2 happen when this kicks in

EGR kicks in most times when you back off the accelerator, not just the morning!
Are you hearing a click under the dash?
If so thats the choke relay cutting out and if it happens to early then ur car will cut out!
Was a case of getting a new temp sensor from vaux on mine.

the egr sends unburnt petrol gas fumes from the exhaust maniflod back into the throttle body to help improve emissions how kind of them......the friggin tree huggers! if it causes u problem just blank it off at each end ,problem solved.
