ive had mine for a while now and its always sounded like a diesel ..
my mate came back to me yesterday and said that the noise is from the timing chain :S
is this a common problem or could it be something else??
help needed .. cheers

lol mine sounds a little like a diesel aswell and its a 1.0 12v corsa b going to do an oil change soon & see if it quiten's down if not guna get some one to look at it for me

Almost guaranteed to be the chain, I'm not sure I'd bother trying to cure it in which case.

yh im thinking its not worth repairing if it is this.. but my dads a mechanic and hes almost certain its not the chain that would make that sort of noise .. gunna have a good look and listen tonight .. will update later for you ash for a heads up on the problem

Nothing goes wrong with a 1.0 12v they are bullet proof minor noise is fine its not llike your looking for street cread in one of them anyway

My new chain on mine and the engine sounds sweet, other than the exhaust note.

Mine sounds really loud and knocky but it still starts and drives!!

im experience this problem as well since its been sitting a while and then i notice it when it come back from the mot put some oil in to see if it was that cuz it was slightly low ish hoping it will go quiet ish

Timing chains get proper noisy after a bit, changing the oil can make it a little bit better for a short while. Unless you're coming up to 100k miles then don't worry about it as that's when they usually want changing.

they're far from bullet proof, fix one thing on my brothers and something else goes wrong. It's only on 28k as well

They hammer my sensors! I am on my 2nd 1 litre in my car too.. The chain slipped on mine, took engine apart, and load of teeth everywhere New 1 is just killing sensors.. Sayin that, its been alright for a week or so.

The only sensor I needed for my 12v was the AFM but thats only coz the car was standing for 18 months and fooked up the sensor.
