I don't really understand "there an old civic" There is an old civic somewhere? "and the newish ones" there are newish ones? "wundad" wondered? "different" difference?

A combination of high revs, hand polished cylinder heads at factory, high flowing heads, v-tec, decent standard cams etc.

Yeh i don't get what your asking there.. lol.

But basically the VTEC engine at say 3k revs kicks in sort of a turbo(It's not a turbo) i can't remember what it's called but the car gets faster the higher the revs basically.

as mentioned before, cam changes at 6k revs and you get a more powerful and responsive engine above this. Wont be running high power under that.

my 2litre honda is 240 bhp standard, but really only because of 9k revs and vtec changing the cam to suit high speed driving

pretty sure he just wanted to know the difference between the old type r's and the new type r's, presumably if the new ones are as well regarded.

And he also is questioning how a 1.6 can generate such a good bhp engine.

its not that hard to figure out really, although it wasnt worded as well as it could be.
