Whats in place to stop stolen iPads been used?
GUessing Apple knows what serials have been sold to said shop and can block them when it tries to access the internet?
Or is it just like an iPod?
(ive not stolen any iPads btw)

If a 3G one has an IMEI number it can be barred from a mobile network, should be nothing stopping it being used on wifi.

Theres nothing to stop you using it over wifi, but if you was to report the serial number as yours + stolen, I would guess they could stop your device from accessing the apple store quite easily.
This wouldnt stop you jailbreaking and using installous though.

Its pretty much the same as an ipod. You can put a passcode on it IIRC, and after 10wrong attempts it will wipe all your data, but 99% of owners aren't going to bother doing that tbh.

Depends if you keep sensitive stuff on there I guess. Films and music don't really matter. Files and documents could be kept on a dropbox account.
In the event you lost your ipad you just remove everything off dropbox you wouldn't want someone else to see and its not a problem.
