if i wanted to take the box round to my mates house to watch somthing id recorded would it work ?

Yes. I think as it's on the hard drive. Think you could even plug the hard drive into a pc

Don't think it works without a sky input.

Definitely can't plug the hard drive into a PC.

You need to connect it to a sky aerial and have the correct viewing card inserted. Found this out when I wanted to delete recorded programmes from a box I had removed and then went to sell on, pain in the tits
