I dont like boardwalks at the best of times never mind when when they are damp! Didn't do all of that magic mushroom bit as went on part of the black route that missed some of it out.
My mate has been up since and did the blue route as well as red and he said the blue is ok. Usually they are a bit boring.
Glentress is good. Will go back again at some point. Kirroughtree is still my favourite trail centre though, its absolutely epic!

Do the colours signify different levels of difficulty?

yer Blues more of a "family route" and Reds a bit more hard and black isnt for beginner. but what ive found is different places grade the routes different, like the blue route at glentress theres noway youd beable to take your small kids on it as its too technical.

Ah I see. I REALLY want to try this. Got the bike, just need to get down to some trails. How do you find where they are located, is there a specific site which lists them?

They do vary in difficulty definitely. The Blue route at Whinlatter is a proper family type route and very boring. But then I'd say the Red Route at Whinlatter is harder going than the Red Route at Glentress!
Black routes are quite challenging, you definitely wouldn't want to end up on one if you were just starting out
Do you have hills down South Nath? The best advice is to just go along and have a go and take it at your own pace and you'll be fine.

Been once before and it was immense. Only thing is I can't compare it to other centres as that's the only one i've ridden.

We have forests. We have a trail a few mins from me, but no idea what its like. Might drive down there and have a gander. I could cycle to there from my house I reckon.

I once passed a dad taking his kids down jacobs ladder on what looked like argos specials. Was quite funny, talk about child cruelty. Far better imho on that sort of trail than at a trail center, i just cannot really enjoy them.
