Saloon or touring?

pics, vids, etch a sketch please this is one of the few oil burners I would 'possibly' consider.

The early 320d engines were of ghey were they not?

Only the recent 320d and 123/323d are the decent ones?

320d and 330d, the 330ds are considerably more to maintain regarding servicing I have been told.

early 330 and 320d upto 2004 had blades on the inlet that break off and go in the engine iirc.
