a friend has one and its running flat,
It had problems with the dpf so he removed it,
its been put on vag com etc and no fault codes, we mapped it last week so the car knows the dpf has been removed but still no better
any ideas?

Turbo fucked? Seen them sieze rather nicely..
Also unplug the airmass meter see if it makes any difference..
If you have VAGCOM then check the measured value blocks in the engine control unit - Check the Map sensor values at idle and with just the ignition on - should be around 1000mbar +/- 50mbar its not uncommon for them to read daft figures at idle (like 2400mbar) causing the engine ecu to cut the boost..
as for airmass i cant remember the exact figures but 330 mg/stroke seems to ring a bell

Surely if the turbo has gone then it would be pissing out blue smoke. Would it be anything like the pd engines and suffer from maf problems? Also is it smoking badly when accelerating? if so might be a boost leak.

What map is on it? Who did it? Did they not have data logging facilities?
Is the egr stuck open blowing boost thru exhaust?

I'd of got the car running properly before mapping it, tbh.

Not always possible when removing the dpf to be honest! But a new dpf can be over 1000 where as a remap is 3-400.

I beg to differ in my case. 35,000 miles and nearly 3 years later and mines never had a single problem with the DPF. And its been remapped which everyone claims will only make things worse
57 plate would of been under warranty but seen as though he's removed the DPF that's now out the window Good luck sorting it.

You said it was a 54 plate which is a 140 engine so non DPF.

DPF isn't part of warranty

It depends on the circumstances of the failure.. as a general rule of thumb, if a software update was available or if the exhaust gas pressure sensor was faulty then the DPF would be covered if it became blocked - 9 times out of 10 however people ignore the regeneration procedure..
