Well yesterday my girlfriend sliced her finger to the bone while she getting the sat nav from under front passengers seat on an 09 Ford Focus. Afterward a trip to a&e, I looked under the seat and theres a bit of metal just acting a knife. It looks like a design fault, so where does she stand?

Thanks, Lister

get pictures of the fault, pictures of the injury and any hospital reports you have.

send this in to Ford Head Office, no harm in also speaking to one of these injury lawyers, they just won my brother near on 3.5k for a neck accident in a crash.

sounds like a case of phoning ford head office/customer services up.

could get a good few bob from this if it's an actual design fault.

iirc my focus sub frames were sharp aswell,as most cars seem to be, but yours could be worse.

How's about getting in touch with Ford to make them aware of the potential hazard and refraining from shoving your hand under the seat. Wouldn't have had this problem if you'd been using a map

I do hope that people have jumped to the wrong conclusion and you're not actually planning on suing anybody

got any pics of the bare metal?
i've been making seats for vauxhalls the last 8 years and nearly all the metal underneath gets covered, might not be a design fault maybe human error

You won't get anywhere trying to sue them. How are you going to prove the seat cut her hand?

any decent company would follow this up, product liability is a MASSIVE problem for manufacturer's and i know from experience in the company i work from we have to bend over backwards for customers with a potential product injury or property damage from an item/product.

wont get anywhere ? of course he will, if you ring a claims company they will take it up straight away as long as the seat has not been tampered with and the metal left exposed through human error.

you would be surprised how fast companies pay out with stuff like this, got to realize a few grand is not to much to a huge company and much less hassel than bad publicity and stories in the news paper ect.
