Seems like its not going to be as simple as previous years to make up a squad by just buying anyone and everyone. Teams now need to meet the new PL criteria which states that each club must submit a 25 man squad made up of at least 8 'home grown' players (born in England, Scotland, Wales, NI - or played for 3 consecutive years in those countries starting before turning 21). You can have as many U21 players in the squad though (so could have a squad of 50 if you have that many!). Could mean a few senior players at clubs missing out on playing until the squad can be changed in the new year.

I think this is more or less going to be our squad, minus some of the other U21s who may come in throughout the year. Ive also ignored Degen, Mascherano and Insua seems they'll all be off before the season starts.

So how long do you think it will take for someone to not be put in a squad and them take the league to court over it?
No different really to saying "Sorry we have 5 black players already in our squad" which there is no way you could get away with.

I think they get away with it as they are not saying you cant have these players on your payroll, so therefore not preventing free movement of trade. They are just saying that according to the agreement that all clubs sign each year to be allowed a license to play in the PL that the clubs must make a decision which of those players make the squad.

We'll have plenty of English in our squad. Only a handful will be from overseas.

We have absolutely zero problems in this area  the most homegrown players used in a squad last season and the most under 21s too (over 20 IIRC)

This be great for us teams in lower leagues, the amount of talent being loaned out to lower leagues now will be good.
