Welcome to the club of owning a smokey x16xe.
Mine puffs out blue smoke most times when firing it up,suppose to be valve stem oils seals but a mate had the same problem with his and had the work carried out by a garage and it still smoked afterwards so must be just one of those common problems with the x16xe engine.

Mine used to do this.
Would smoke on start up even if I'd driven it for 20 mins.
Since replacing stem valve seals and what not - touch wood - its fine

This! They are a pain in the arse lol. Mines being rebuild now because it smokes
Are you sure the smoke is white in colour mate? As said if its only on cold start, like first thing in the morning I'd check to see if the smoke's got a blue tint to it. If so it just means your valve stem steals have probably perished and a little bit of oil is getting past them when its stood.
