a bit like the 'galaxy' station. non-stop repeats of all the new songs to the death.

Because Radio 1 play chart songs a certain amount of times per day, there's a thing on the website somewhere that tells you about it.
I agree that they play the same things too much, the good shows seem to be on at night when they play good songs that they want to play.

Each DJ has a certain amount of these songs to play in their show, though the same song can't be played within 3 hours of eachother.
Edit: That list gets updated Wednesday nights so Thursdays tend to be better listening

every radio stn does it tho tbh. The commercial stations only have a smaller playlist...and some of them end up playing the same song every hour.

I find Radio 1 a lot less repetitive than commercial stations. I think they have a policy of only playing a certain track once per DJ per day, but that still means 4 plays each day (Zane doesn't really go off the playlist I find).
Commercial is far worse. If I ever listen to Heart, you will hear the same track at the exact same time each day for a week before they change it. Awful, can't stand it.
