I am a seving PC. We have several specials who work on our shift. Maost work evenings or weekends. Generally crewed up with a regular officer. They respond to all incidents, take details, direct traffic, guard scenes, issue tickets, arrest people. Everything I do basically but they dont get the paperwork that comes with it all. Some are enthusiastic, others are doing it from a 'CV' perspective for employers. Most are great and a help too.

Tbh a decent Special should pretty much do the same paperwork a regular does...but some do just seem to leave it for the regs to sort out, which is unfair imo.

On my intake for the specials, the youngest was 19, oldest 45.

Tbh you've more chance to get in the Specials first than the regs, because the regs like "life experience".

Yeah that's it the whole life experience thing

It can only help with future jobs etc anyway
