I need to record something on to a blank cd, can you do this on a macbook ? does it have an inbuilt microphone or something ? ta

Yes you can.
There are numerous programs you can use, like Garageband.

Yeah it has an inbuilt microphone, at the top next to the camera. And yes you can put things onto a blank cd.
I dont think you can write straight to the cd though. I think you would have to download a program called audacity, record it then export it to a cd

Load up Garageband
Create a new 'Real Instrument' track
Make sure the input is set to the microphone
Hit record
You can turn the metronome off if you don't want it on.
Once you're done you can cut up the track and then export to itunes. From itunes you can burn it onto a CD.
