my mate came to me a couple weeks back with what seemed like warped discs, when he put his foot on the brakes the wheel would vibrate..
we straipped them all down and replaced every corner with new discs and pads and he went away with no vibration.
just called me now to say that this vibration is back, now i cant believe that he has cooked them yet again as he said hes not been that hard on the brakes, he does lots and lots of motorway milage too.
any ideas of what could be causing this?

never had a problem with mine. focus st brakes are pretty good as standard and don't really need very hard braking in general driving to stop quickly so there must be a fault somewhere.
what reg is it? no warranty left? if it's just out of warranty tell him to get ford to look at it and they may sort it as a ''gesture of goodwill'' or go halves on the cost of fixing the problem.

I was going to suggest balancing.
Back on the VXR track day I did a couple of weeks ago, the disks on several of the insignia VXRs were totally warped and the shudder under braking was shocking.
I looked down at the mileage and the car had only covered about 3000 miles

Hope all 4 discs were nearly needing replaced anyway in that case...

Balancing comes before replacing discs and pads all round on the checklist for that problem, especially before replacing the backs for it.

he got them before i saw it tbh.
i just fitted them and it seemed to cure it, when taking the wheels off i noticed that one of the wheels didnt have balancer weights so i told him to get it sorted asap.

Discs don't warp.
Was the hub cleaned properly?
Did you use copper slip on the hub?
What make were the discs?
Were the pads replaced too?
