Just bought astra estate 1.7 dti with nearly 100k on full service history and want to prolong the life of the turbo would running it on idle for a minute after a journey make it last longer or switch it straight off as it probably has done for the last 100k also how often should I change oil its been done every 10k or yearly so far.
Cheers

Just don't rag it then turn it off, let it cool down over the last few miles of your journey

i always drive mine very easy for the last mile or 2 before i turn it off, or if i do have to turn it off, leave it to idle for up to 30 secs, theres no need to let it idle for more than 30 secs

But mark has a point. You was sayin how your not bother about it, it cost £150 etc then you ask questions like this?
Its fine! Wait till you come to a stop take it out of gear then turn it off.

Exactly Rich. It's already done 100k so it will need replacing at some point.
