Afternoon

I was having a look on autotrader earlier and noticed the FR is majorly cheaper than the cupra, apart from the 30bhp and the bumpers etc what are the differences?

I'm assuming it the same engine but with a different map or something? You can get an FR for as little as 3k

The bumpers are the same IIRC however that's a pre-facelift model in your link
As well as the map theres the intake pipe, bushes, suspension and a couple of other bits that I can't remember. Cupra also has a FMIC rather than side mounted and I think has the 312mm brakes as standard

Not a massive amount TBH.
I miss mine

Also cupra's have the seat sport brakes (nae sure if their brembos?)
And interior has different badge obviously and red stiching on seats

I thought about getting a petrol cupra, but just decided to spend £300 and remap my TDi FR instead

The FR and Cupra were both available in 1.9TDi and 1.8T engines.

TDi's were 130bhp and 160bhp
1.8T's were 150bhp and 180bhp

Main differences are power, bumpers, FMIC, brakes, interior and wheels

Cupra has different bumpers (although facelift FR shares the same rear), 17" wheels (same design as the Leon Cupra R) AP 4pot brakes, a twinpass FMIC, black headlining and pillars. The Cupra's also have the solid wishbone bushes which people have to replace on the lower models.

FR was facelifted in 06, got the new bumpers and 17" wheels. The FR has different wheels and honeycomb grills over the lower models.

The pre-facelift Sports came with the same 130bhp tdi as the FR. I have the Sport (cheaper on insurance)
