just done some reviews and im getting the impression its an slr style? how can you undertstand the difference?

I'm guessing you can't change the lens on the one that you have posted. It's known as a bridge camera

SLR means single lens reflex, which essentially means what you see through the view finder will be what is on the picture, where as a normal camera it could be diferent depending on the processes it takes.... (or so I read on wikipedia)

I got an SLR because I was getting pissed off at my point and click taking a second or two to take the picture, and thus missing it.
