Well 15 weeks after being made redundant I've finally been offered a permanent job!

basically I qualify as a spark in June so I have to go with an electrical firm so I can carry on at college.

Fucking shitty thing is though it's loads less than what I was on and I won't get paid for my day in college

all this with our baby due in Feb too. Working life truly is shit out there at the moment!

i know how you feel mate, i was trying to keep my house and pay for bay etc on aprentice wage, i was lucky tho and got paid for my day at college. its all good now tho im qualified and on decent money. Just look forwards tho mate, it might be a struggle for a bit but you will get throuh it. Good luck and congrats with the job BTW

Nice one mate. Looks like you have some tough times ahead but it's only short term when you look at the big picture. Just got to tighten the purse strings for a while and you'll be reet.

Same situation as me mate, I'm self employed but a sub contractor for my firm.I dont get paid for college either (1 day a week) .I had to pay for my course even though as an apprentice the boss is supposed to pay but he refused as he was sending his daughter to college the same year.

Have you qualified the 2nd year or 3rd year?

I'm still in my first year but only got it for 29 weeks now, absolutely loving it. I just wish i done it when i left school as its 8 years of my life wasted

im on a day rate which is shit but the laads i work with are on an hourly rate of £11... seems fair for the work we do but the boss takes home before paying wages close to £300k a year off the council and private work

Yeah some dickhead sparks are driving down the wages

£11 for 4 years of training and shit loads of exams and then all the tools etc you need!? Pitiful
