Driving the xe corsa home from work last night, when i notice the battery light popped on.

Oh balls, i thought the altenator had gone, or snapped belt. reason i thought the alt was shot is last few days i've had a bit of supercharger noise when driving, thought the belt might be too tight.

Then i notice i lost 1/4 tank of fuel. hmm. it didnt go to nothing, but dropped to the red.

Got it home, thinking that when i switch it off, it wouldnt fire up again.

Car turns off, turn ignition on, no lights, turn key anyways, too see if it clicks, car fires up.

Nothing on the dash though, car is running fine, but no revs, water or fuel gauge, no dash lights.

Soooooooo, what the hell is going on?

I've checked the alt earth, fuel rail earth, gearbox earth & battery earth, all seem ok. Checked all fuses under the dash, all ok, had the ecu off & checked for corrosion, all ok, took the battery off last night to try & reset ecu, put it back on this morning & still the same.

Anything else???

had this in an astra, was a fuse

Check the fuse for the accessory socket/fag lighter.

friend had this, was blowing the accessory socket/fag lighter fuse,
turned out to be his dodgy wiring on the transducer on the gearbox killing it.

I had this happen on my tomcat, found out it was water getting in the headlight and dripping onto the headlight plug triping the fuse out.

Very.

Its crazy how the cig lighter fuse has control over the whole dash!
