I'm trying to fit it to a blackberry bold, the charger you have supplied is the type for the older style blackberry

Yeah, the newer type is smaller iirc. The older type was a mini usb plug whereas the newer is a bespoke connection.

Mini USB = old BB
Micro USB = all current phones Nokia, Ericsson, new BBs etc
