my bro bought me a little gift pack of 5 small bottles of different types of Absinthe and i fancy drinking them tonight.
Looking up proper methods as whenever someone has produced a bottle in the past no one really knew what the order of events was and it ended up being set on fire, stirred while on fire, or setting fire to a spoon, feck knows.
what are your techniques?
apparantly the proper way is to put absinthe in a glass, put a perforated teaspoon over the glass, rest a white sugar cube on that and slowly add water until the cube has gone, then drink the glass of mixed drink

i don't really drink regulary, probably had 2 beers in 3 months recently

Good Absinth have nothing to do with the volume and more the artermisia absinthium content. As for Methods I personally prefer the traditional method http://www.seborabsinth.com/under-the-influence/absinthe-adventures/media/from-hell.asp

Crazy, crazy stuff. About as close as you can get to feeling as if you're out your face on drugs just on drink as you can get.
Only ever tried it a couple of nights and was out my tree both times.

lmao. It's because you don't need very much and there's virtually nothing in your system, so you don't get that dizzy/sick feeling. Bloody loved the stuff, until I abused it and now I can't stand the smell of the wormwood green one

I heard the foreign stuff is the real absinthe. Stuff from supermarkets isnt quite as strong.
Last time i drunk the foreign stuff me and a few mates were completely fucked. my vision was all blurry and half my memory was blank the following days.

I had 20 shots of sambuka in benidorm, I had the initial 4 with pints of cruzecampo lager, on the 5th I stopped drinking the lager and just drank sambuka
we were in the same bar and out of a full litre bottle there were only 2 shots left that my mates bought at the end of the night, long long after I had been bundled into a taxi and off to bed

I had some of the 70% green stuff awhile ago and someone told me ya meant to mix it with sugar or something like that.
I tried drinking it straight and thought it tasted gross. Even after a few bottles of beer, I could still taste it

As far as I know, the absynthe you get in Spain etc is not at all like the real stuff. It's practically a hallucinagenic if you get the proper stuff. Van gogh etc were fans.
