Just about to change the PLCC-2 smds in my Focus dials.

Rather than changing 22 smds and re-fitting the dials to find half of them work, is there anyway I could test them before re-fitting?

Power it up using a bench power supply.

Easier said than done. I live in a top floor flat and the car is parked 100yrds away in the garage.

Would like to chesk them after every 5 just to make sure as I'm new to soldering.

Unless you have a +12V Power supply (like a spare battery or summing), they only way is to plug it into the loom.
