how often could i use that every day and stay within the limit

depends if you have wireless at home or not, that 1GB is only for 3G etc.
my limit is 500mb and ill never hit that by just browsing the net.

i did when i used to stream slingbox through my old windows mobile phone
without that i cant see why people would go over unless there using youtube/iplayer a lot or other streaming websites.

Three give me 150mb every time I top up my phone, lasts about a week with normal usage. Just surfing, not downloading.
1GB should be enough unless you're hammering it.

I know on O2 you need to be connected to wireless to download apps over 20Mb, is it not the same on Vodafone?

Before that it was between 400-500mb a month. 1gb is plenty for most
