was pulling away from the mini roundabout in town earlier tonight. looked to the right and nothing so i slowly proceeded. as i creep away i could see a van on the left caining it up but as i was commited to go and it is my right of way i carried on. i could see that he didnt even look at me so i gave it a little bit of power to make sure i was clear. i checked overmy left shoulder and see the van miss me by literally inches (he went straight over). i looked straight back in front and the next thing i see kurb and bollard. and bang. the bollard snapped clean off. shaken up as i was i went up the road and stopped.
the thing im worried is. anyone know how much the council will rape me for knocking there bollard down? id rather pay it myself as my insurance is nutssss.

The council can charge quite a lot for that, so it's probably better to go through insurance. Don't be surprised at £500 for the damage. In future you may pay attention to what you're doing more than someone else!

Gutted for you mate. Did the police turn up? If not just don't say anything and fingers crossed you might get away with it as long as there isn't any cctv etc

Shit happens tbh. If we all had hindsight, there would be no accidents. Get a quote from the Council before deciding to go through insurance or not as they can charge you a fucking fortune!

i crashed into a traffic light and the airbag didn't go off, head on aswell.
i didn't get caught on that one, otherwise i'd have been raped by the council

WTF, it seemed, unless I'm wrong, you're resigning to defeat aka paying some sort of money to the council. Unless they caught you, fuck it and don't worry about it

Expensive mistake, chalk it up to experience and don't repeat it in future - nothing else you can do really.
