do they have to be supervised by a person who is also insured on the car they are driving?

for instance can my gf drive her mums car with me supervising if Im not insured on her mums car?

They don't need cover themselves but all other laws apply, ie. you can't use your phone / be pissed / do without glasses if you usually wear them etc.

Although it is wise to be covered in case you need to take over for whatever reason.

No need for the supervisor to be insured as far as i am aware. as long as the supervisor has no intention of driving the vehicle.

I though the supervisor had to be over 21, been driving for 3 years, etc etc?

I used to sit next to someone when i was 20 but had been driving for over 3 years. Your previous post stating it was 21 AND 3 years made me think But if its AND/OR its ok

she needs to be insured you dont

she is driving you are just sat there, I thought I would check incase there was a need for the supervisor to take over at any point, but there isnt

Supervisor doesn't need to be insured as long as they aren't going to drive the car

You must be 21 AND have 3 years driving experience

My Grandad that really shouldn't of had a license used to sit in with me and we went all over the spot He just sat looking out the window watching the world go by and let me get on with it

He'd never had to take a test in his day yet legally he was allowed to sit in with me, how crazy is that looking back!

Points go on just the learners licence, not supervisors as well
