tbh a heatgun, back to black and some standard lights and it would be spot on. so a tenner and youve got a perfect base.

Never got this 'perfect base for a project'.
Surely a good example of something is a better starting poinit, unless you have something specific in mind that you'd be replacing the faulty bits anyway?

If you have an engine and the parts already then it is a perfect base, however I'd rather get a runner and then sort out aesthetics and tuning personally.
