I was using 2 flashes, one 200w/s head with small softbox lighting from the right 45 degrees to the chillis set at 1/4 power and a diffused slave at full power lighting a Magnolia painted wall at the top of my stairs about 350mm behind the chillis. I didnt change the background in post edit, just blew it out with the 2nd slave flash.

Ahhhhhh I see they were spiked on a stick and hung in the air!
I am going to make it my mission to replicate this photo at the weekend

That's really cool mate, it wouldn't look anywhere near as good if I'd tried it
